195 Students Recognised for Diverse Achievements at Annual Special Awards Ceremony

1. This year, 206 Special Awards were given out to 195 students from 91 educational institutions1  to recognise their diverse achievements in both academic and non-academic domains. Minister for Education Mr Desmond Lee presented the awards at the Special Awards Presentation Ceremony on 26 August 2025 at the National University of Singapore's University Cultural Centre.

2. Five students clinched multiple awards this year:

  1. Former Hwa Chong Institution student Mr Lin Fangzhe and former Dunman High student Ms Peh Yu Feng both received accolades for their bilingual and bicultural proficiency;
  2. Victoria Junior College student Mr Loh Ming Zhe, Marc was recognised for his outstanding all-round achievements and bilingual proficiency;
  3. National University of Singapore undergraduate Ms Vania Lum Hui'En received accolades for her excellence in Mathematics and Science and dedication towards upgrading and lifelong learning; and
  4. Mr Rohan Senthil, formerly from Nanyang Polytechnic, received three awards for his well-rounded performance, excellence in Mathematics and Science, as well as contributions to the Smart Nation vision.

3. The award categories and number of recipients are as follows:

  • Prime Minister's Book Prize (39 recipients)
  • Lee Kuan Yew Award for All-Round Excellence (24 recipients)
  • Lee Kuan Yew Award for Mathematics and Science (49 recipients)
  • Lee Kuan Yew Award for Outstanding Normal Course Students (10 recipients)
  • Lee Kuan Yew Exemplary Student Award (27 recipients)
  • Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (25 recipients)
  • Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding All-Round Achievement (4 recipients)
  • Lee Hsien Loong Award for Outstanding Bicultural Students (4 recipients)
  • Lee Hsien Loong Award for Special Achievement (2 recipients)
  • Lee Hsien Loong Interactive Digital Media Smart Nation Award (17 recipients)
  • Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Book Prize (5 recipients2)
