Secondary 1 (S1): Submit school choices

2. Does my child need to participate?

Your child must participate in the S1 Posting Exercise in the following scenarios:

They are unsuccessful in their Direct School Admissions for secondary schools (DSA-Sec) applications

You can include schools that did not offer your child a place under DSA-Sec, except for the following specialised independent schools that do not participate in S1 Posting and accept students through the DSA-Sec:

They have accepted an offer from Singapore Sports School (SSP)
Your child must participate in S1 Posting. Your child will be transferred from their posted secondary school to SSP after the release of S1 Posting results. If your child needs to leave SSP due to extenuating circumstances, they will return to their posted secondary school.

Therefore, it is important to consider your child’s school choices carefully before submitting them.
They are applying directly to Crest Secondary School (CSS) and Spectra Secondary School (SSS)
Your child should still participate in the S1 Posting. This is to facilitate posting them to another school of their choice in the event they are not admitted directly to CSS or SSS.

CSS and SSS are secondary schools for students who are eligible for Posting Group 1. It is recommended that you visit and apply directly to these schools to learn more about the subjects offered and progression pathways after graduation.

Students who apply directly to CSS or SSS and are successfully admitted to these schools will be informed of the outcome by mid-December, and their other S1 school choices will be voided.

If your child is eligible but did not apply directly to CSS or SSS and wish to be considered for admission to these schools, they may indicate CSS and SSS as one of their school choices during the school choice submission period.

Successful DSA-Sec applicants

If your child is offered a choice of Posting Group or Third Language Programme, they may submit their preference through the S1 Portal if they wish to opt for them.

If no submission was made to choose their preferred Posting Group, your child will be assigned to a Posting Group that offers subjects at the more academically demanding level at the start of Secondary 1.

Successful DSA-Sec applicants do not need to submit school choices.
